Mladota House

Chapter Deanery

Vikářská 37/2 (Vikářská Street)

Mladota House was originally a Renaissance chapter house built on the foundations of older Romanesque and Gothic buildings, the structural elements of which are still preserved today. In the early years of the 18th century, Dean Adam Ignác Mladota of Solopysky had the building reconstructed in Baroque style, perhaps according to the design of Jan Blažej Santini. In the past, the house served as a chapter deanery and the seat of a library. The author of the library hall’s rich fresco decoration, dating back to 1725, was Jan Ezechiel Vodňanský. Today, the Metropolitan Chapter uses the space primarily as an exhibition hall and a venue for cultural and social gatherings.
