One of Prague’s most important late Baroque buildings is currently the third seat of Prague’s bishops and archbishops. This magnificent residence of Prague’s archbishops was built in the 16th century by Antonín Brus of Mohelnice, the first Prague archbishop after the Hussites, by reconstructing the Renaissance Gryspek Palace. Until now, the palace has undergone several reconstructions, and its current appearance with a rococo façade is the work of J. J. Wirch from 1764-65. The interior as a whole has retained its late Baroque character and is distinguished by many wood carvings and rococo stucco. A number of late Baroque chandeliers, tiled stoves, and other elements have been preserved. The palace is not open to the public.
